Chapter Officer Duties

Participate in your MN-NIGP Chapter!

 

PRESIDENT:
The President of the Chapter shall preside at all meetings of the Chapter, appoint all special committees, call special meetings as deemed necessary, and cast the deciding vote during Board meetings in the case of a tie vote.  The President of the Chapter shall be an ex-offico member of all committees and shall perform all other duties as parliamentary protocol dictates.  The President shall be responsible for providing the program for each regular meeting and notifying members of the time and place of the meeting. Term: one year, plus one year as "past president"
VICE-PRESIDENT:

The Vice-President shall assist the President and shall preside in the absence of the President.  In addition, the Vice-President shall carry out any other duties as directed by the President.  The Vice-President shall succeed to the office of President until the next regular election, should the office become vacant.  The Vice-President will reserve the location for next year’s Fall Conference and establish and Chair the Fall Conference Committee responsible for planning the Fall Conference.  Term:  one year, plus become President for one year.

SECRETARY:

The Secretary shall record the minutes of all Chapter meetings, and with assistance from the Membership Chair, develop and maintain a current roster of all members of the Chapter, including name, government unit, address and telephone number of each, maintain custody of the other correspondence and Chapter records, excluding current financial statements.   The Secretary shall make available, at all Chapter meetings, the minutes of the previous meeting.  Term: two years (elected opposite years).

TREASURER:

The Treasurer shall receive and maintain all receipts and records of financial transactions of the Chapter, collect and disburse all chapter funds and keep an accurate record of the same, and shall present a current financial statement to the members at each meeting of the Chapter. The Treasurer shall prepare and issue invoices and collection of same.  Term: two years.

BOARD MEMBER:

As a member of the Board of Directors you are charged with the function of participating in the establishment and review of major policy and plans of the Chapter.  You are to work in cooperation with your President and fellow Board members to achieve the goals of the organization.  You, as representative of the membership, are expected to conduct yourself in a most professional manner.  You are required to be familiar with the operation of the Chapter, including by-laws, organizational structure, rules, regulations and procedures.

Your term in office is significant for the organization.  The goals that you set for yourself and the organization will determine the direction the Chapter will take in the coming years.
